General Catalyst, Bain Capital, and Stanley Druckenmiller have made their first investments in Saudi Arabia through a $67.5 million Series B funding round for fintech startup Lean Technologies. This investment is a notable endorsement of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, aimed at economic diversification and reducing reliance on oil. Lean Technologies, which builds financial infrastructure for secure data-sharing, has now raised over $100 million. The MENA region’s fintech market, projected to grow to $4.5 billion by 2025, has drawn increasing interest as Saudi Arabia’s fintech sector alone has attracted $1.84 billion in venture capital since 2018, with ambitious growth goals to reach 525 fintech companies by 2030.
