📝 Terra CO2 raises $124.5M
News of the Day
Colorado-based startup Terra CO2 has raised a $124.5 million Series B to scale production of its low-carbon cement alternative, aiming to cut concrete’s hefty climate impact. Backed by Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Just Climate, and others, Terra CO2’s technology melts silicate rocks into a glassy powder that can replace up to 40% of Portland cement in concrete, resulting in a 70% reduction in CO2 emissions. The funds will support the construction of a plant near Dallas with an annual capacity of 240,000 tons, as the company races to develop a next-generation version that could eliminate the need for traditional cement.
