📝 TetraGen Robotics raises $1.3M

Winnipeg-based autonomous welding startup TetraGen Robotics secured $1.3 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round led by Calgary's StepChange Capital, with participation from Vancouver's Emend Vision Fund and angel investor Jim Richardson. Founded in 2022 by Matt Khoshdarregi out of the University of Manitoba, the company integrates artificial intelligence software and machine vision with traditional welding robot chassis to build "manual programming-free" systems that adjust autonomously to operational conditions. TetraGen plans to use the capital to expand its engineering and commercial teams while accelerating the commercial rollout of its collaborative robots across heavy equipment, mining, and defense manufacturing sectors throughout North America to help address ongoing skilled labor shortages.
