📝 ThinkLabs raises $28M
News of the Day
ThinkLabs has closed a $28 million Series A round to deploy "physics-informed AI" to manage the skyrocketing electricity demands of the global AI race. Spun out of GE Vernova and led by Toronto-based founder Josh Wong, the company addresses a critical bottleneck: by 2028, U.S. data centers alone are projected to consume more power than the entire state of Texas. ThinkLabs’ platform creates "digital twins" of electrical grids to simulate extreme scenarios and allocate power, reducing six-month engineering studies to less than a day of analysis. The funding round, led by Energy Impact Partners with participation from Nvidia’s NVentures and Edison International, will be used to scale the 20-person team and expand beyond North America to help utilities modernize infrastructure that Wong warns must now "run" after decades of "crawling."
