📝 Throne raises $4M

News of the Day

Throne, a startup developing an AI-powered toilet attachment to monitor gut health through computer vision, has raised $4 million in seed funding led by Moxxie Ventures. The idea began as a poker-night joke between co-founders Scott Hickle and Tim Blumberg, who later revived it after their previous startup failed and a serendipitous investor suggestion reminded them of their once-fictional “Throne.” With help from Hickle’s mother (a doctor) and a series of unlikely introductions—including to Lance Armstrong, who became an early backer after testing the prototype—Throne attracted high-profile investors like WHOOP co-founder John Capodilupo, who eventually joined as chief product officer. The device, which analyzes waste for signs of chronic conditions like IBS, colitis, and kidney disease, is now in pre-production with a launch set for January 2026. Research partnerships with the University of Washington and the University of Chicago further legitimize the product’s clinical promise.
