📝 TransCrypts raises $15M
News of the Day
Canadian-founded blockchain startup TransCrypts has raised $15 million USD in seed funding led by Pantera Capital, with support from Lightspeed Faction, Alpha Edison, Motley Fool Ventures, and others, valuing the company at over $80 million CAD. Founded in 2020 out of the University of Toronto Scarborough’s incubator, TransCrypts enables users to encrypt and store employment, education, and health records on the blockchain, maintaining full ownership and privacy of their data. The new funding will fuel expansion into Canada and the U.S., where the company recently achieved HIPAA certification, and help more than double its team, with a “significant focus” on hiring in Toronto. With 11 of its 18 employees already in Canada, TransCrypts now serves over 4 million users across 450 enterprise clients, generating over $500,000 in monthly revenue.
