📝 Turbopuffer raises undisclosed funding round
News of the Day
Ottawa-based AI infrastructure startup Turbopuffer has secured an undisclosed funding round from Thrive Capital and Lachy Groom to scale its "object storage-native" search engine. Following a breakout 2025 that saw 10x sales growth and a jump into the tens of millions in ARR, Turbopuffer has become the backend of choice for AI titans like Anthropic, Notion, and Cursor. By fundamentally re-engineering vector search to run on cheap object storage (like Amazon S3) rather than expensive in-memory systems, the company claims a 10x to 100x cost advantage, enabling AI agents to search through trillions of vectors and tens of petabytes of data with sub-10ms "warm" latency. The company was founded by former Shopify engineering leaders Simon Eskildsen and Justine Li.
