Danish biotechnology startup Visibuilt has secured $3.80 million in Seed funding to accelerate the commercial scale-up and market validation of visiBINDER, its proprietary, low-carbon mycelium binder designed to replace carbon-intensive conventional binders like cement and bitumen. The funding round was co-led by Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO) and Unconventional Ventures, with additional backing from Proptechfonden and returning early investor EMDFonden. Founded in 2022 by CEO Line Kloster Pedersen and CSO Oleksii Rebrov, the Copenhagen-headquartered company utilizes fungal root networks through a room-temperature fermentation process, bypassing the high energy requirements and heavy fossil emissions traditionally tied to heavy manufacturing. This capital injection will allow the biotech firm to expand its laboratory operations into large-scale pilot trials and bolster its team's technical capabilities, building on existing industrial testing relationships with the Municipality of Copenhagen and Denmark's leading concrete paver manufacturer, IBF. Visibuilt's successful raise brings total disclosed European funding for circular, waste-derived, and biobased construction material startups to approximately $40.24 million so far in 2026, highlighting a surging venture appetite for heavy industry decarbonization.
