X CEO Linda Yaccarino announced that the social media platform has filed an antitrust lawsuit against the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) and the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA). In a video posted to X, Yaccarino accuses these organizations and members such as CVS Health, Mars, Orsted, and Unilever of conducting a "systematic illegal boycott" against the platform. This action follows a U.S. House Judiciary Committee report alleging that GARM and its members participated in coordinated boycotts to demonetize disfavored content, including X and other platforms like The Joe Rogan Experience/Spotify. Yaccarino claims this illegal behavior cost X billions of dollars. Elon Musk, echoing these sentiments, declared "war" on these organizations, expressing frustration over unproductive negotiations. The lawsuit comes amid a broader crackdown on tech antitrust issues, highlighted by Google's recent loss in a search monopoly case.
