News of the Day
xAI, Elon Musk’s AI company, has secured $6 billion in Series C funding, doubling its valuation to $45 billion. High-profile investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, BlackRock, and Kingdom Holdings, contributed, with $400 million coming from the latter. Musk's flagship AI model, Grok, powers X (formerly Twitter) and features integrations like image generation via Aurora. xAI’s ecosystem leverages data from Musk's ventures, fueling products like Starlink support and potential Tesla collaborations, though Tesla shareholders have voiced concerns. Amid a legal battle with OpenAI over competition practices, xAI is scaling aggressively, operating a Memphis data center with 100,000 GPUs, and planning expansions despite environmental criticisms. Annual revenue is $100 million, with Musk eyeing further funding in 2025.
