News of the Day

YouTube has leveled up its Dream Screen feature for Shorts, now allowing creators to generate AI-powered video backgrounds, thanks to Google DeepMind’s Veo model. Previously limited to images, users can now input text prompts like "candy landscape" or "magical forest" to create cinematic 1080p video backdrops. Accessible through the green screen tool in the Shorts camera, the feature lets users select animation styles and record videos with AI-crafted scenes behind them. This upgrade positions YouTube ahead of TikTok, which offers AI background images but no video capability. Currently available in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, future updates will include stand-alone six-second AI video clips.
